Growing areas of the Pécs territory mainly take up the southern slopes of the Mecsek and the Baranya county hills. Soils as well as climatic conditions (a lot of sunshine and hot summers) are convenient for the production of great wines. The territory is characterised with the dominance of whites: Olaszrizling, Chardonnay and Rizlingszilváni and a true speciality, Cirfandli, which is grown nowhere else in the country and yields excellent qualities here.
