The third territory is Kunság, which is also the largest of the country’s wine territories (28.000 hectares of vineyards). It extends through Kiskunság, the sandy plain between our two great rivers the Tisza and the Danube. The centre of the territory is Kecskemét with a scientific institute of Viticulture. Wines of the terrain include whites, reds and rosés and among the 74 varieties grown in the area there are several original Hungarian National varieties (e.g. Arany Sárfehér, Ezerjó, Kövidinka, Kadarka, Cserszegi F?szeres and Zalagyöngye) as well as well known international ones (e.g. Zweigelt, Cabernet, Merlot). |
