The Etyek-Buda territory extends from Southern Gerecse to theVelence and the Buda Hills, the limits of the capital. The largest homogenous territory here lies on the slopes around Etyek, where in addition to excellent sparkling wine base varieties light white wines made with reductive technology dominate.

Etyek wine-growers prefer white varieties: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Szürkebarát and Zöldveltelini but some are now experimenting with Pinot Noir! Etyek is also the focus of wine tourism in the area with its spectacular cellar rows and press-houses built of Sóskút limestone blocks (e.g. Körpince [Round Cellar] and Kecske-gödör [Goat Ditch]). In addition to excellent wines high-level gastronomy/gourmet events keep adding to the popularity of the “Vineyard of Budapest”.

At Tárnok in the vicinity of Etyek the scale-like arrangement of at least 800 cellars lends special atmosphere to the countryside.
